Hello everyone and welcome to Gabba’s rolling coverage of the second day of the first Test between Australia and South Africa.
What a bluff start to this game we played yesterday!
The first day of course belonged to the bowlers as a total of 15 wickets were dropped and fast breakers did most of the damage as Mitchell Stark (3-41), Scott Bolan (2- 28), Pat Cummins (2-35), Anrich Noj (2-37), Kagiso Rabada (2-50) and Marco Jansen (1-15) have a total of 12 pole positions.
But the bowlers didn’t go all the way, scoring almost 300 runs in a brilliant start to the series.
Australia’s Travis Hyde was the standout for the Willows, taking 78 instead of just 77 balls, including 13 fours and sixes, in an entertaining innings.
He’ll be eyeing his sixth Test ton and his second in as many games (if he hadn’t made 99 appearances for Perth, he might be aiming for a hat-trick).
Australia will continue at 5-145, seven points behind South Africa (152).
